Donation details

On October 24, 2017, in response to the community’s request for a show of support for immigrants and refugees in Tacoma, the Tacoma City Council authorized the creation of a Deportation Defense Subfund, which would help provide legal services for Tacoma residents facing deportation. The Council also allocated $50,000 from the Council Contingency Fund to establish this fund. As this amount is not enough to fully assist with these services, the Tacoma City Council has implemented a way for community members to help by donating to the fund. When the subfund has reached $100,000, or three months have passed, whichever occurs first, the City of Tacoma will issue a Request for Proposals seeking an entity to manage the fund. For additional information on this initiative, view this document or contact Rebecca Boydston at rboydston@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 219-0679.
